Shared Use Path Team Update
May 29, 2026, Paul Wyntergreen, Team Coordinator

On May 27th, our consultant, Dowl Engineering, presented their first draft of an engineering analysis of the conceptual Shared Use Path proposal that was adopted by the OAP board. After a walkthrough with OAP representatives in April, the consultants' job was to take the concepts and test them for workability in both a physical construction and a regulatory sense to determine if there were any fatal flaws and to suggest any improvements.
In that Zoom meeting, the engineers graphically presented their draft refinements with representatives of the OAP and received initial comments based upon local knowledge. They are now going to take that feedback, plus any additional written redlines, and develop a revised draft for a second Zoom meeting in mid June.
The plan is to prepare a final analysis for presentation in July, which will include a breakout of each trail segment by estimated cost, along with projected inflationary adjustments in five-year increments, so that grant opportunities can be pursued as they arise on a segment-by-segment basis.
