1. Oceanside Beach Cleanup July 5, 2026 - To ensure that the shores were pristine and prepared for visitors following the Independence Day festivities, 52 volunteers from Oceanside collaborated with 30 participants from Netarts to conduct a thorough cleaning of the beaches. Marina Dreeben, the Stewardship Coordinator for Friends of Netarts Bay-Watershed, Estuary, Beach, and Sea (WEBS), organized the event, in which the Oceanside Action Partnership participated. Following the conclusion of the initiative, venue space and refreshments were generously provided by Schooners and Pearl Point Oysters for all participants.

2. Update on Tire Trail Refurbishment and Redesign



a) The land survey for the current trail has been finalized. Because both the current path and the proposed redesign run close to or cross over private property boundaries, we will soon begin discussions with the impacted neighbors.

b) The new survey also tracks a buried waterline running underneath the current trail. We remain in active communication with the Oceanside Water District to ensure this waterline is completely protected during all phases of trail work.

c) A recent engineering evaluation of the bridge indicates it remains viable for another five years, provided specific repairs are executed. These required updates include upgrading the deck, enhancing the railings, and cutting back the overhead tree canopy; fortunately, the foundation itself is structurally sound. Since the bridge must ultimately be replaced, we are currently gathering expense projections for its removal and replacement. A key element of our decision-making is evaluating whether it makes more financial sense to repair the current structure for short-term use or direct those funds straight toward a brand-new bridge. Given the rapid escalation of material and construction costs, prioritizing an immediate replacement may be the most logical path forward. We are still collecting the necessary data to finalize this choice and will provide updates in our monthly reports. The Tire Trail and its bridge represent a vital walking route for Oceanside, connecting numerous neighborhoods directly to the beach. By offering a safe walking alternative, this asset minimizes traffic in the village and keeps residents off the main highway, making its preservation incredibly important to our community!

3. Short Beach Trail Status - Following the extensive overhaul completed on the Short Beach Trail last year, regular upkeep is being managed by our dedicated local volunteers. Due to normal foot traffic compacting the path over time, volunteers recently added fresh gravel to top off the trail steps last month.
